The Government has launched a $2 million fund to honour victims of abuse in care who were buried in unmarked graves and to support survivor-led initiatives.
The fund will help local authorities memorialise at least 4,000 unmarked graves across multiple regions, including Auckland, Waikato, and Otago, following findings from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.
Additionally, NGOs and community groups can apply for funding to provide survivor support, including educational workshops, advocacy, and awareness initiatives.
Administered by Community Operations Hāpai Hapori and the Crown Response Office, the fund is non-contestable, with successful applicants receiving up to $50,000.
Another waste of our money just window dressing.
Stop bankrupting us.
Crown Response Office?
Pathetic!
Why not investigate contemporary Abuse in Care, namely Oranga Tamariki (Ministry for Children)?
Why not investigate the biggest child abuser in New Zealand, the secretive NZ Family Court?
