A man was shot and detained by police in Krefeld, Germany, on Thursday local time after setting multiple fires and attempting to burn down a cinema.
The suspect reportedly used Molotov cocktails to ignite a car, an apartment building, and a local government office before heading to the Cinemaxx theatre.
Police intervened in the theater’s foyer, shooting the suspect to stop him. The man survived and is in hospital, while no casualties have been reported from the fires.
Authorities believe the arsonist acted alone, though heightened security remains in place.
