Australia’s federal government is moving forward with legislation that would ban children under 16 from accessing social media.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that there would be no “grandfathering clause”, meaning that young users already on social media platforms will not be exempt, nor will parental consent override the age restriction.
Set to be reviewed after implementation, the proposed legislation aims to counteract social media’s negative impact on youth mental health, placing the responsibility of enforcement on social media platforms rather than parents.
The national cabinet is scheduled to discuss and seek state and territory support for this policy, with implementation expected a year post-legislation.
Communications Minister Michelle Rowland, acknowledged that while social media can help young people stay connected, it also contributes to “harmful addictive behaviours”.
Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and YouTube will likely be affected under the new law, though “low-risk” platforms may receive exemptions.
The legislation’s framework draws from South Australia’s proposed laws, which mandate a minimum age of 14 and threaten fines for non-compliant platforms.
Afraid kids will learn early on what a bunch of grafting, authoritarian, sleazy, pro corporate, pro US globalist’s, most mainstream political parties in Australia are…..well if social media won’t tell them, I’ll bet their parents will…..!!!
Nice try, tho…..

Like not believing the BS from the MSM?
This is a foolish attempt at stopping the truth reaching our children’s ears and eyes. No longer shall we the people take our information from the controlled media.
Facts and the truth isn’t harmful content. Harmful to individual politicians, I agree. Harmful to police if they are caught out doing something they should not have done.
