Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has announced plans to ban social media use for children under 15, warning that platforms are “stealing our children’s childhood.”
Speaking to parliament, Frederiksen said the government would act after a wellbeing report showed 94% of Danish youths had social media profiles before age 13 and spent up to three hours daily on TikTok and YouTube.
While details of the proposed ban remain unclear, the move follows growing concerns over alleged mental health impacts and digital addiction among young people.
Denmark has already banned mobile phones in schools, and the initiative builds on rising global scrutiny of youth social media use.

No, NZ has not yet implemented that ban, but it is planned. National MP Catherine Wedd and PM Luxon push for such a ban, introduced as members bill. Maybe givem a call.
