A widening of the military operation depends on the weaponry Kiev gets from the West, Sergey Shoigu has said.

Russia’s defense minister has outlined the conditions for a widening of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine, explaining that potential advances are directly tied to Western arms deliveries to Kiev.

“It depends on the weaponry that will be supplied,” Sergey Shoigu said in a brief remark to the TV program ‘Moscow. Kremlin. Putin.’

The minister appeared to be speaking on the sidelines of President Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly, the country’s main legislative body, earlier this week.

“One thing must be clear to everyone,” Putin said during the event. “The longer the range of the Western systems that arrive in Ukraine, the further we will be forced to push the threat away from our borders. It’s obvious.”

Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, citing the need to protect the people of Donbass republics and Kiev’s failure to implement the 2014-15 Minsk agreements. Ukraine, as well as its supporters in the West, consider the offensive to be completely unprovoked.

Russia has repeatedly urged Western states to stop “pumping” Ukraine with weapons, maintaining that the continuous flow of arms will only prolong the conflict rather than change its ultimate outcome. Kiev, for its part, has repeatedly demanded more and longer-range weaponry from its Western backers, insisting that such systems are needed to push Russian troops out of the territories Ukraine claims as its own.

  1. The west and Ukraine have admitted they used the Minsk agreement to string Russia along from 2014 to the time Russia entered the Donbas.

In those seven years of “negotiations” the Ukraine killed over 14,000 Russians in the Donbas region.

In that intervening period the USA funded dozens of covert biolabs in the Ukraine. Poured billions of arms and military effort into upgrading the Ukraine army as they prepared to war against Russia.

    Now flip that around.

Let’s say Russia entered Mexico. Poured billions in arms into Mexico. Created chemical capacity near the US border. Would the US see that as a threat? Would that force the US to respond? Of course it would

Why then do we think it’s wrong for Russia to deal with a direct and real threat to its sovereignty?

Wake up NZ. This country is part of the problem. A problem Russia and China have started to correct. It’s time to pay the piper

    • Exactly. The more western countries fall in line with US warmongering policy, the worse it will get for Ukraine and ultimately Europe. It is clear the Americans are responsible for this situation including taking out Europe’s energy supply from Russia. The longer New Zealand supports this anti-Russian rhetoric the worse for us also. I agree with JD it’s time to wake up or pay the consequences..!

      • Yes James all roads lead to the US led destruction of the Nordstream pipelines

Germany who needs enemies when the USA is your Buddy. Back stabbing pack of inbreds.

Your flag America is the banner of slavery and piracy. What an utter shame you have become.

        • This is the truth. It is there, it has been spoken about reported on. Truth will prevail and Putin will ensure this.
Thank you JD & James for pointing to these facts.

    • Exactly what happened with Cuba and heavily sanctioned. Turned out the Cuban missile threat was fabricated.

Mexico acts with caution a diplomatic tight rope. They wish to maintain good relations with Russia and although many here see the problem they simply can’t make a stance. Their tortilla has the beans on one side.

Zelensky has even called for America’s sons and daughters. Hands off dude!

The US is run by a warmongering tribe.

  2. Supporting these Nazis pisses me of!!
The sooner Chechnya under the rule of its Russian-appointed leader Ramzan Kadyrov invades East Germany the better. Time to make the supporters of Ukraine feel a little heat.

Chechnya soldiers very good at guerilla warfare
