Five injured in Dublin stabbing attack outside school

Irish crime news
Alleged suspect (R).

Five people were injured in a stabbing attack in central Dublin today, three of them children believed to be aged about six years old.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm on Thursday local time, outside Gaelscoil Choláiste Mhuire, a school at Parnell Square East, a bustling part of Ireland’s capital.

Three young children, a man and a woman were taken to hospital, with one of the children, a girl, and the woman sustaining serious injuries. Police detained a male suspect and are understood to have retrieved a large knife.

Witnesses said the suspect was disarmed by members of the pubilc and held until police arrived.

‘Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar reacted to the incident with shock, saying, ‘A number of people have been injured, some of them children. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to them and their families.’

Justice minister, Helen McEntee, said she was appalled by the attack. “All our thoughts are with those injured, especially with the children, their parents and families, during this extremely difficult period.”

Unconfirmed reports on social media claim the suspect is an Algerian immigrant, causing anger amongst some members of the public, with riots reported in some parts of the country later in the day. The Irish government has come under fire for what many consider to be an ‘open door’ policy on foreigners and refugees.

Earlier in the day Irish MMA icon Conor McGregor tweeted the country ‘was at war’ following a controversial decision by the government to allow immigrants to vote in elections without holding Irish citizenship or passports.

‘Do not let any Irish property be took over unannounced. Evaporate said property. It’s a war,’ McGregor said.

  1. Diversity is our strength 👍

Just not in Egypt. Or in Jordan. Or in Turkey. Or in China.

But in Europe it’s definitely a strength. Just look at how strong they are now 👍👍

  2. Anyone coming into any country should be vetted thoroughly and in my view only allowed in if they are adding value. That is bringing skills in that are in short supply.

Sounds like Ireland just like NZ needs a new government.

  3. Is it any wonder that scum from any sh*thole country is highly mentally defunct?
Afghanistan has been embroiled in eternal warfare. These people are therefore unable to live in a free and kind society.
Such incidences are common in Europe and are becoming increasingly frequent.
And that desabilisation is the direct result of US politics in Northern Africa and the Middle East. Europe got too strong and united for US imperialism.
