Ghislaine Maxwell says numerous Epstein associates ‘got off scot-free’

Ghislaine Maxwell

Ghislaine Maxwell has claimed that nearly 30 people connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network escaped prosecution, with many allegedly reaching confidential financial settlements with accusers.

The claims were made in court filings submitted as part of Maxwell’s effort to overturn her conviction.

Media outlets reported on the filing in late December 2025, shortly before the US Department of Justice released another tranche of documents linked to the Epstein investigation. Epstein, who faced federal sex-trafficking charges, allegedly died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial. His death was ruled ‘a suicide’. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in recruiting and grooming victims.

In her motion, Maxwell argues that newly uncovered material shows cooperation between government prosecutors and civil lawyers that allegedly concealed evidence and involved misconduct during the prosecution process. She claims attorneys representing accusers privately settled claims involving 25 men connected to Epstein, while another four alleged participants were never formally charged.

It remains unclear whether Maxwell alleges similar agreements existed with federal authorities. Responding to questions about the filing, Deputy Attorney General Blanche said he was unaware of any such arrangements.

Documents released in connection with Epstein’s case have previously revealed his links to numerous prominent political and business figures, although association alone does not imply wrongdoing. Public debate over the release of the files has continued, with calls for transparency intensifying in recent years. Under pressure, the Department of Justice last year began releasing heavily redacted documents related to the investigation.
