The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday that it is preparing a significant retaliatory strike against Iran following an Iranian missile barrage targeting Israeli military bases earlier this week.

Iran fired around 200 ballistic missiles in response to Israel’s recent airstrike on Beirut, which killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and top commanders.

While Israel claims the missile strike was largely ineffective, videos show impacts at key airbases, with Tehran alleging that Israeli F-35 jets were destroyed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Iran had made a “big mistake” and would face consequences.

The planned retaliation is expected to target Iranian nuclear or oil infrastructure, though U.S. President Joe Biden has advised Israel against such strikes, warning of the potential global economic impact.

Iran, meanwhile, has threatened a more destructive response to any Israeli action.
