Large protests in Caracas reported following election results

In Caracas residents have taken to the streets in protest against President Nicolás Maduro’s claim of victory in Venezuela’s election.

Demonstrators from various neighbourhoods have gathered outside the presidential palace, Miraflores, banging pots and pans.

Many stood in the rain chanting “Afuera” (Out) and “Libertad” (Freedom), while social media buzzed with images and calls to “knock down the dictator.”

The opposition has challenged Maduro’s victory, asserting that their candidate, Edmundo González, won with 70% of the vote.

The election has drawn international scrutiny, with numerous countries and organisations, including the UN, urging transparency and the release of polling data.

Maduro accused the opposition of inciting a coup, and the attorney general warned of legal repercussions for protest-related disturbances.

  1. Hard to know the truth here but what I do know is that history has shown repeatedly over the last 200 years in Latin America, that whoever the US backs they are the traitors
