The assassination of Charlie Kirk has prompted an international wave of tributes, but also shocking scenes of hostility from left-wing politicians when conservatives sought to honour him on both sides of the Atlantic.
In Washington, Congressman Ronny Kirk recounted what he called “one of the most disgusting and evil things” he had ever witnessed. Speaking about the moments before Charlie Kirk’s death was confirmed, he said Republican lawmakers attempted to lead a prayer on the House floor for Kirk’s recovery. Instead of silence, he alleged, Democrats began booing and shouting. “It was absolutely disgusting,” the congressman wrote, adding that their rhetoric had fueled the climate of hate leading to the attack. “Their actions today show they have no remorse!!!”

A similar clash erupted in Europe. Polish MEP Dominik Tarczyński revealed that conservatives in the European Parliament requested a minute’s silence in Kirk’s memory. According to Tarczyński, left-wing members refused. “Even in the face of death, they are incapable of showing human compassion,” he wrote, vowing to organise an exhibition inside the Parliament commemorating Kirk’s work and legacy. “His legacy will bear fruit…”
