Lifelong Democrat and prize-winning author M.C. Armstrong has declared his support for Donald Trump in the upcoming election, expressing frustration with the Democratic Party and its handling of key issues like censorship, war, and the treatment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s voters.
Armstrong, who shared his thoughts in a candid post on X, called it his “career suicide note,” but wrote his decision was based on principle, not party loyalty.
“I’m a lifelong member of your party and I’m voting for Donald Trump,” Armstrong wrote, citing a range of grievances, including the Democrats’ “industrial-scale censorship,” “endless wars,” and their attempts to disenfranchise Kennedy voters through legal action.
However, Armstrong made clear that his vote was about more than just anger, stating, “Your hatred and censorship has taught me to admire Donald Trump and to love my fellow working-class Americans, and for that I thank you.”
Armstrong highlighted a shift in how he views Trump, explaining that where he once saw a “cartoon white supremacist, warmonger, and narcissist,” he now sees “the man who renegotiated NAFTA and the only president in the twenty-first century not to start a new war.” He also pointed to the support Trump has garnered from prominent figures like Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard, writing that “Tulsi, Bobby, and Elon see what I see. Donald Trump is resilient and he’s risking his life to change the fate of our nation.”
Armstrong concluded his post by announcing that for the first time in his life, he will be voting Republican, driven by his belief that the GOP has become the party of dissent and free speech.
“In the name of peace in Ukraine and free speech here at home, I’m casting my vote, as a Kennedy Democrat, for Donald Trump,” he declared.
To @TheDemocrats ,
This is my career suicide note, but it’s also a thank you from someone who is done with careerism. I’m a lifelong member of your party and I’m voting for Donald Trump. Why? It’s not just your industrial-scale censorship or your endless wars or the fact that… https://t.co/lNfK11luLQ pic.twitter.com/jKX6Ia7xme
