Despite a swing of 3.2% to Labour, Khan’s victory is overshadowed by a voter turnout of merely 42.8%, signaling a lack of enthusiasm among Londoners.
In his victory speech at City Hall, Khan displayed hubris, attributing his success to combating what he labeled as ‘non-stop negativity’ with supposed ‘facts.’ His call for a general election and his jabs at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reflected a politically charged agenda which deflected attention from his own poor record in office.
