Vance Boelter, 57, was captured in Sibley County after a two-day manhunt for the fatal shooting of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and the attempted murder of State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Boelter, who wore a police-style uniform during the attacks, was found after what officials called the largest manhunt in Minnesota’s history, involving over 20 SWAT teams.
Authorities say he acted alone and has been charged with four counts of second-degree murder and attempted murder. “The face of evil… the killer is now in custody,” said the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.
