Nancy Pelosi has announced she will retire from Congress when her current term ends in January 2027, concluding a political career that spanned nearly 40 years.
The 85-year-old Democrat from California was first elected in 1987 and twice served as Speaker of the House, from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. Pelosi, the first woman to hold that position, oversaw major legislative battles under several administrations and maintained tight control of her party’s agenda in the House.
Pelosi’s career has also been shadowed by controversy over stock trading by her and her husband, Paul Pelosi, during her time in office and the amassing of an enormous private fortune. Their “well-timed” investments in major tech firms and companies affected by congressional legislation drew repeated accusations of insider trading and conflicts of interest, though Pelosi has denied any wrongdoing. The issue has fueled ongoing debate in Washington about whether members of Congress and their families should be barred from trading individual stocks while in office.

The US should introduce upper age and term limits for all politicians. They should also be required to undergo regular cognitive tests. Bribery and influence of US politicians from the likes of AIPAC should be banned.
In a few short years the headlines will read Nancy Pelosi has pass away. History will not be kind to her. Her name will be remembered by this generation alone. Her unexplainable millions is worthless where she is going.
