Reform UK surges in local elections

Reform UK has made major breakthroughs in the English local elections, winning 677 out of approximately 1,600 seats and seizing control of eight councils from the Conservatives, including former Tory strongholds like Kent and Staffordshire.

The party also unseated Labour in Doncaster and Durham, and gained mayoral control in Greater Lincolnshire and Hull and East Yorkshire. Nigel Farage hailed the results as a turning point, declaring Reform as the new opposition to Labour. The elections marked the first major test since Labour’s general election win, with voters in 23 mostly rural and suburban councils delivering punishing losses to the Tories, who lost over 676 seats and all 16 councils they previously held.

The Conservatives’ only bright spot was recapturing the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough mayoralty from Labour.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats gained 163 seats and took control of key counties like Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire, positioning themselves as the voice of “Middle England.”

The Greens added over 40 seats but narrowly missed winning the West of England mayoralty. A state-funded projection by the BBC estimated the Conservatives would have received just 15% of the vote nationwide, behind Labour’s 20%—a historic low for both parties.

  1. Farage is a treacherous chameleon, he says whatever he thinks is popular at any given time but routinely flip flops harder than a breakdancer.

Lots of people he’s burned and backstabbed along the way have spoken out. If he DOES manage to get into power, nothing will change.

The UK only has one party.

  2. New Zealand is probably 10 years behind the likes of the UK and Germany. We haven’t, as yet, had to endure the broad human rights abuses, people in those nations, have endured, at the hands of the globalist politicians. Australia is in a similar boat, with the re-election of the oppressive globalist Labor misfits, who simply don’t deserve to run a hen house, let alone a country. Not that the Liberals are any the better, which is why they failed.

Like or hate him Farage understands why people are unhappy and angry and what it takes to get them on side. I just hope he does something positive with it and doesn’t let people down. If he does, I wonder how long it will be before people decide, the whole system is broken and overthrow it?

  3. Martin Armstrong utilises Artificial Itelegence to generate content/trade. Is not an economist nor a political scientists.

A prophet test is: 100% correct 100% of the time, which Armstrong is clearly not.
