U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has defended his government’s plans to introduce a national digital ID system, even acknowledging it could become necessary for Britons to access their own money.
Speaking at a press conference in India, Starmer praised countries such as Estonia for using digital ID to manage payments and services, saying digital ID has been “transformational” in other countries and allows people to access their own money and make payments more easily.
The Prime Minister argued that the scheme would help prevent people from working illegally in the UK, insisting that something has to be done and that the vast majority of people want it brought under control. He also called for a national debate on the issue, saying that once the public understands its benefits, they will want to adopt it.
Starmer’s comments come as his government pushes ahead with mandatory digital ID cards for all citizens and residents aged 16 and over, a plan modelled on Estonia’s system. The proposal has drawn strong criticism, with nearly 2.7 million people signing a petition calling for it to be scrapped.

Over these past few years I have come to believe that our leaders are not leaders of our nation. They are not independent, they are not free to govern as they choose. They are told what to do and when. Take a look at Starmer. Clearly not of his own mind.
We have all seen what happens to nations who decide not to participate in trading oil in US$. Germany declared all trade in Marks then WW2 started. Russia in recent times decided to trade gas in their currency and suddenly the Nord 2 pipeline was blown up.
Some say its ok to take the digital ID but not the chip inside your body. Others say neither.
