Stowaway tragedy: Body found in wheel well of United Airlines flight to Maui

A dead body was discovered in the wheel well of a United Airlines jetliner after it landed at Maui’s Kahului Airport on Tuesday afternoon, following a flight from Chicago O’Hare, the airline confirmed.

The wheel well, which houses the plane’s landing gear and is accessible only from outside the aircraft, poses extreme dangers for stowaways due to subzero temperatures and lack of oxygen at high altitudes.

United Airlines stated it is cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation, though details about the deceased or how they accessed the wheel well remain unclear.
