Trump pressures Starmer as U.S. monitors jailing of UK mum over Southport tweet

The White House has confirmed it is monitoring the case of Lucy Connolly, a British woman jailed for a social media post following the Southport attacks, as Donald Trump and other U.S. officials raise concerns over free speech in the UK.

Connolly, the wife of a Conservative councillor, was sentenced to 31 months after calling for mass deportations and violence against migrants and politicians in a now-deleted tweet.

“Mass deportation now, set fire to all the f***ing hotels full of the b******s for all I care, while you’re at it, take the treacherous Government and politicians with them,” the tweet read.

Her appeal was recently rejected by the UK High Court.

U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, have voiced concern over European hate speech laws, with critics accusing Labour leader Keir Starmer of enabling censorship. British politicians, including Suella Braverman, have labelled Connolly a political prisoner and praised U.S. scrutiny of the case.

A spokesman for the US State Department said: “We can confirm that we are monitoring this matter.

“The United States supports freedom of expression at home and abroad, and remains concerned about infringements on freedom of expression.”

  1. Pot calling the kettle black.

How is freedom of spech on university campus going Trump?

Anti-semitism you say, more like anti-Israel and anti-genocide sentiment

  2. The EU as well as the UK who never implemented the peoples choice of BREXIT – are nothing but WEF globalist tyrannies at the moment.
The EU should be broken up and stand alone Sovereign states / Countries should be enforced.

  3. Only in jail because she is a “conservative telling truth” which is antithetical to the powers that ought not be.

  4. Thank God for Trump. All the while we have musicians such as Bruce Springsteen, Robert Plant speaking out against Trump. I can’t believe they are making out Trump is not democrat and he is a totalitarian, are they mistaking him for Biden? It is easy to talk crap when you are loaded and have too much time on your hands.

  5. Two Tier Kier Starmer
All Pakistani rape grooming gangs welcome
    You Granny go to jail
We have plenty of space available
We simply let out those incarcerated on serious crimes while jailing those guilty of misdemeanors and ostensibly non hurt crime adjudicated as being such by a decadent and dying regime
Britain which means ‘Covenant’ or once did has gone to the dogs
And now firmly in allegiance to the adversary and his cronies
    Aspirations and failings

  6. All the imperialist enforcer’s and their satraps are imposing hate speech laws or something like them. The vassals in Germany, France, the UK. In the US they will shut you down if you say something they don’t like. So no talk of genocide in Gaza or the truth of Russia winning against Ukraine (just ask Scott Ritter). Plus, of course, Canada and now Australia, under the Labor regime, at Federal level and state level in Victoria. In the latter case, this even includes comments made in private, in your own home. Anyone fancy moving to Melbourne? Th walls have ears!

Oh and New Zealand, under so called, conservative National, is “looking into it”. Why do people think the cops are training for this. So the govt attack dogs can hit the ground running, when one or other member of the uni-pary, passes them, into law (any notion of true law and justice, is DEAD in NZ).
