The U.S. Department of Justice has charged an Iranian national and two Americans with conspiracy in a murder-for-hire scheme aimed at assassinating former President Donald Trump and an Iranian dissident, according to a complaint filed in the Southern District of New York.
The suspects include Farhad Shakeri, believed to reside in Iran, and two Americans, Carlisle ‘Pop’ Rivera and Jonathon Loadholt, who were arrested in Brooklyn and Staten Island, respectively.
The DOJ alleges that Shakeri, 51, an asset of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), recruited Rivera, 49, and Loadholt, 36, promising them $100,000 to target an Iranian dissident.
The complaint also details Shakeri’s supposed assignment from the IRGC to provide a plan to assassinate Trump, though he reportedly delayed any proposal.
The trio face multiple charges, including murder-for-hire, conspiracy, and money laundering, potentially resulting in 40-year sentences. Shakeri is also charged with supporting a foreign terrorist organisation, with an additional possible sentence of 60 years.
U.S. officials claim Iran is involved in “active efforts” against U.S. and allied nationals, reportedly in retaliation for the 2020 killing of IRGC Quds Force commander General Qassem Soleimani by a U.S. drone strike ordered by Trump.

Give it up. Give us a break. Take all your claims and blames, stop trying to start a war with Iran and just go away. Trump was elected in a landslide victory, he will have control of the Senate, the House, the Electoral AND the popular vote and Iran is as happy with the results as are the Russian and the American people.
