Dunedin woman sentenced to 14 months prison for inciting ‘shocking’ attack

24 year old Mae Charlotte Katherine Stringer egged on the attackers as the victim hit the ground and was repeatedly hit and kicked.

Stringer pleaded guilty to one charge of intentionally injuring in relation to the incident which took place near the victim’s home in Dunedin on 1 June 2021.

Stringer was with two male associates when they came upon the victim, and she said ‘There he is guys – get him!’ Thereupon the two males attacked the victim. Stringer did nothing to stop the attack and was witnessed yelling and swearing at the victim as he lay on the ground.

The victim suffered two nose breaks, cuts to his head and face, a bruised and swollen right eye, and other bruising.

Stringer was sentenced to 14 and half month’s prison and ordered to pay $394 to the victim in reparation.
