This fourth episode of twelve published to Rumble by CoronavirusPlushie is subtitled ‘Public Health and Informed Consent’, where Shelton describes how standard medical ethics were completely ignored.
‘It didn’t seem there was any need for this radical way in which we delivered public health. And the message was much more about that. It was less about the individual circumstances of the patients and more about what was increasingly sounding like dictates and inflexible ‘one size fits all’ solutions that we were going to have to impose on people.
‘You asked previously about how some of the doctors I knew responded. Some were obviously frightened – they really thought it was the worst infectious disease since the Middle Ages and we were all going to die unless we did something about it. Others were much more sanguine. They recognised the politics and the imperatives, but the feeling was sort of like the ‘Soviet Shrug’ – ‘What can we do? Not for us to question or cause trouble by questioning our betters.’
‘There wasn’t a lot of support in my local area for my views, but they were respected. I was allowed to have them and nobody told me that I should change my tune.
‘Informed consent effectively died at that point in my view. The messaging was already impossibly optimistic that the jab would be proven safe and effective based on two months only of clinical trial data. But at the point the authorities knew the three months of what’s called ‘Post Marketing Data’ that Pfizer had, based on the initial roll-out to millions of people, so this is outside the initial formal clinical two month trial, showed catastrophe. There were 1,223 deaths, 40,000 significant side-effects reported by over 20,000 people, and yet none of us were told that.
‘Our regulators knew, yet our messaging still was ‘safe and effective’. Not only was it a hopeless glossing over of the detail that we really neeed to be able to discuss this with our patients, but it was fundamentally wrong in science, in ethics. They’ve driven a stake through the heart of ethical medicine.’
This is so well said. Thank you Matt. It was one of the greatest tragedies to see most of the medical profession in NZ fold with barely a whimper. In my view, those who stood tall and said no to government dictating to the medical profession,are heroes amongst us. They are the medical staff we can trust. Respect.
