Watch: Google’s ‘Embarrassment’ – How Bing could destroy Google’s 20 year search monopoly

Analysts say Google is a year behind it’s rival in AI search implementation – a delay which could prove fatal for the tech behemoth.

Google’s virtual monopoly in the online search space has stood unchallenged for nearly two decades. But as the AI war heats up, developments are happening in online search technology at an incredible rate.

On the one hand is OpenAI backed by Microsoft and on the other is Google.

Both companies made public announcements about their respective search products recently. YouTube tech and finance analyst ColdFusion called the Microsoft presentation ‘awe-inspiring’. But Google’s was an ’embarrassment’.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, lost $100 Billion worth of value during and after the presentation – a sure sign investors may have already seen the writing on the wall. Google will fight back, but it has everything to lose. As Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told an interviewer, ‘Microsoft is now moving the search industry into a find industry.’

Microsoft have introduced a suite of new AI-based features for Bing which are set to revolutionise the way internet users search for information online. And Google’s problem – they’re way behind the 8-ball and scrambling to salvage the situation – but is it already too late?

Bing is now able to do three new things:

  • Answer your questions
  • Chat with you
  • Create new things

It does this by running on Open AI which is ‘much more powerful that ChatGPT and tuned specifically for search.’
