During the rebuild construction of the Paekākāriki Surf Club building two separate discoveries of human remains have been made, prompting a temporary halt to the project that began six weeks ago.
The old building was demolished due to coastal erosion.
Police have referred the discoveries to the coroner, and construction has since resumed.
