Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has announced that the Government’s Quarter Four (Q4) Action Plan will focus on streamlining infrastructure development in New Zealand as part of its broader strategy to rebuild the economy.
With 43 key actions outlined, the plan aims to remove barriers to growth and enhance the delivery of modern, reliable infrastructure.
Luxon said that the final action plan for 2024 will build on previous efforts to restore economic stability, law and order, and improve public services.
Key initiatives include passing legislation to fast-track approvals for significant regional and national projects, reforming resource management to reduce regulatory burdens, and introducing new financing tools for housing and infrastructure.
The plan also aims to make it easier to build offshore wind farms and get local councils focused on core functions.
In addition to infrastructure, the Government will take steps to strengthen law enforcement and public services, including legislation to address serious youth offending, expanding breast cancer screening for older women, and releasing a new primary school curriculum for English and Maths.
