FIFA confirms Saudi Arabia as 2034 World Cup host, 2030 to span three continents

FIFA has announced Saudi Arabia as the host nation for the 2034 Men’s Football World Cup, while the 2030 tournament will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.

To commemorate the centenary of the World Cup, three matches will also take place in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, marking 100 years since the inaugural competition.

The decision was confirmed during an Extraordinary FIFA Congress meeting, with all 211 member nations casting their votes via video link.

The process for selecting hosts included two separate votes: one for the centenary celebrations and another for the main tournaments.

Each decision had only one option on the ballot, with votes given by acclamation.

FIFA’s secretary general confirmed that member associations had pre-cast their votes before the congress.

Support for the bids came from several associations, including those of England, Scotland, and Wales, following assurances about safety and inclusivity at the Saudi World Cup.
