Manchester City have agreed to a €40m (£33.6m) deal with Lens for Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov, marking their first major January signing since 2018.
The transfer, which includes additional bonuses, will be finalized after Khusanov undergoes a medical.
The move underscores Pep Guardiola’s urgent bid to reinforce his squad following a challenging season plagued by defensive injuries, leaving key players like Ruben Dias and John Stones sidelined.
City, currently sixth in the Premier League and trailing leaders Liverpool by 12 points, are also eyeing Brazilian teenager Vitor Reis and Egypt’s Omar Marmoush to further strengthen their roster.
Khusanov, who has impressed in Ligue 1 and internationally, will become the first Uzbek player in the Premier League once the transfer is complete.
