Secret Service agent who rushed to JFK’s limo dies aged 93

Clint Hill news

Clint Hill, the US Secret Service agent famously seen leaping onto John F. Kennedy’s limousine during the 1963 assassination in Dallas, has died at the age of 93.

Hill, who was assigned to protect Jacqueline Kennedy, was captured in the infamous Zapruder film as he rushed toward the president and first lady amid the gunfire.

Though awarded for his bravery and later rising to assistant director of the Secret Service, Hill was haunted by guilt, believing he could have saved Kennedy’s life.

He retired early in 1975 due to the emotional toll but later came to accept that the tragedy “was unavoidable”.

In later years, he co-authored several bestselling books with journalist Lisa McCubbin, whom he married in 2021.

Hill passed away at his California home on Friday, with his wife by his side.
