Act Party to contest local elections for the first time

Act Party news

The Act Party has announced plans to stand candidates in the upcoming local council elections, with leader David Seymour calling for expressions of interest from those seeking “better representation” in local government.

This marks the first time Act has entered local elections, which Seymour described as an “exploratory campaign” focused on addressing wasteful spending, lowering rates, and ending what he calls a “war on cars.”

The party will not contest mayoral seats but aims to build a presence within councils.

Candidates will be expected to fundraise independently, with Seymour putting the focus on “grassroots support”. He argues that councils have failed to deliver the “real change” New Zealanders voted for in 2023 and believes it is “time for a clean-out.”

  1. Imagine a Zionist David Seymour in every ‘Communi(st)ty….absolutely chilling for the Christians, Gentiles and Goyim in those Comuni(st)ties, and massive elation for the Talmudic bagel-biters!
I’ll vote for the candidates who are former NZ Loyal Party, or from a party that is resurrected from NZ Loyal…
Attorney Liz Gunn (aka ‘Cooney’): please get busy!!! You & the former Loyal Party members are needed now more than ever!!!!

    • She has no bottle for the fight, all it took was a trumped up assault charge and she bolted, we need stouter stuff than runners.

    • I agree, water, wastewater, roads and rubbish. All the rest of the Sh1t like crank works and rainbow story time, pretty gardens should go. CPI coils should provide an assets register and get rid of anything not needed. Conflicts of interest and nepotism are rife in council here in Rotorua. We have some of the higher paid unelected career bureaucrats that are not accountable to anyone who pays their salaries ie the ratepayers and you cannot get rid of them. We have cultural safety officers and a whole lot of other woke BS. We have new immigrants being hired over locals because of their skin colour.

I think our local council could get rid of 50% of staff and no one would know. We used to have someone who worked at the council living next door and honestly talk about having days off.

  2. Voted for ACT once, never again. Just more globalists, like National and Labour. I believe they have a hand in the horrific Gene Tech Bill, as well?

    • Yeah, Labour spouts off all the cultural Marxist talking points to justify what they have done and want to do but I dont really think they believe their own BS but Natioanal and ACT MPs have come through the Labour run indoctrination centers that we call school and actually do believe the cultural Marxist BS. The NZ Center right parties just hold the door open for Progressive politics until the Bolshivics can find a way back in, its been like this for 30 years.

  3. Starting in Tauranga . Our new mayor ran on I’ll listen to the people .
He does but only to the rich who want to spend like drunken fools
Had a referendum 70 said no museum. Guess what were getting a museum ..
we said no fluoride. Guess what fluoride
We said representation by election only. No racial seats …. Guess what racist seat added . No election
I’m a 1 fingers typer and said enough
Our mayor is a HUGE disappointment .
Showed up in the mayors ratings

  4. At last. Some balance at least. All of the Local/District councils of which I am aware have consisted of a high proportion of left-leaning councilors. This has mainly been because Labour has campaigned at the local level for decades. More power to ACT for becoming involved at the local level of government. (I have no idea where the commentator at 09:05 gets his/her information). If I wasn’t planning to retire overseas, I would stand for local council myself.
