Kobe Bryant’s Los Angeles Lakers debut jersey from his 1996 rookie season has sold at auction for USD $7 million, making it the fourth-most expensive game-worn sports jersey ever.
Bryant, who spent his entire career with the Lakers, won five NBA Championships and was named MVP in 2008.
Originally sold for $115,242 in 2013, the jersey’s value skyrocketed following Bryant’s tragic death alongside his daughter Gianna in 2020.
Sotheby’s head of modern collectibles, Brahm Wachter, called debut games “truly one-of-a-kind moments” in an athlete’s career.
