Police say they received a report at about 12.30pm today that a person had been washed into the sea at the popular west Auckland beach. The Police Eagle helicopter was deployed to assist with the search.
The person was located just before 1.20pm, however they were found deceased.
Police say the death will be referred to the Coroner.
