Blues power past Drua to claim inaugural Joeli Vidiri Memorial Cup

The Blues maintained pressure at the top of the standings with a commanding 40-15 victory over the Fijian Drua at Eden Park, using forward dominance and a clinical second half to pull away.

Despite an early exchange of tries and a narrow halftime margin, the Drua briefly edged ahead after the break before the Blues’ rolling maul and discipline swung momentum decisively, with hooker Bradley Slater scoring twice to anchor the surge.

Impact plays from the bench and a length-of-the-field effort finished by Payton Spencer broke the contest open, before Caleb Clarke added a late try to seal the bonus-point win.

The result keeps the Blues level with the competition leaders on points, while the Drua remain winless against them and outside the playoff positions.

The win also secured for the Blues the inaugural Joeli Vidiri Memorial Cup with their honouring the legacy of the late Fijian-born Blues and All Black.
