Meghan Markle reveals 2018 allegations against estranged father

Thomas Markle allegations

The Duchess of Sussex has disclosed that she was alerted to serious allegations involving her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in 2018, following reports that suspected child sexual abuse material had been discovered at his former residence in the Philippines.

Meghan said she received details of the allegations through a letter originally sent to London’s Metropolitan Police and was assured the matter was being investigated.

The 82-year-old former television lighting director has denied possessing illegal images, while Philippine authorities have launched an investigation and seized his computer for forensic examination, with the FBI offering assistance.

Meghan expressed distress over the revelations, explaining that concerns about protecting her children contributed to her decision to maintain distance from her father.

British police are reportedly reviewing how the original allegations were communicated to the duchess, although they are not investigating Markle. The developments have renewed attention on the family’s longstanding estrangement, which began around Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
