Loretta Swit, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan on the TV series M*A*S*H, has died at age 87 at her New York City home from suspected natural causes.
Swit starred in nearly every episode of the 1972–1983 series, portraying a tough yet compassionate combat nurse and the show’s only regular female character. Her portrayal earned her two Emmys and ten nominations.
Beyond M*A*S*H she had a successful stage career, was an advocate for animal rights, and continued performing well into later life.
Seinfeld, Fraser, Cheers, MASH, Taxi, Barney Miller, Hill Street Blues….ALL of these were boring, un-creative, uninteresting and very abstract with what passed as ‘humour’.
The humour seemed to be ‘coded’ that only certain audiences could understand, mostly those who thought that they were very intelligent.
Nothing could be further from the truth…!
I got good use out of the History Channel, TLC, and sometimes MTV when the boring, uninteresting programs listed above came on.
I found that I could never relate to the personality types that found those programs to be ‘wonderful’ or (dare I say it…) entertaining…
