Australian sunscreen brand Ultra Violette has pulled its popular Lean Screen product from shelves after multiple independent tests revealed highly inconsistent SPF ratings, ranging from as low as 4 to above 60.
Earlier testing by consumer group Choice had already flagged the sunscreen as one of the worst performers, despite the company previously defending its SPF claims with overseas lab results now under scrutiny.
Ultra Violette apologised to customers, confirmed the issue only affected Lean Screen, and announced it will no longer work with the third-party manufacturer responsible.
