All U.S. government records on Amelia Earhart are set to be declassified after President Donald Trump announced their release, following fresh discoveries in the decades-long search for the pioneering aviator.
Researchers recently restored her aircraft’s radio equipment, allowing them to pinpoint her last known location on July 2, 1937, while residents of Saipan have long claimed credible sightings suggesting she may have been captured by Japanese forces.
The move, requested by Congress delegate Kimberlyn King-Hinds, could finally shed light on Earhart’s mysterious disappearance as she attempted to circumnavigate the globe.
