Luca Fairgray, an Auckland man who began sexually offending as a teenager, can now be publicly named after years of legal battles to suppress his identity.
Initially convicted in 2021 for 10 charges, including rape and sexual conduct with minors, Fairgray committed further offenses against a 13-year-old girl in 2023 while still under interim name suppression.
Despite multiple unsuccessful appeals, culminating in a Supreme Court rejection in 2024, his name remained hidden until recently to ensure a fair trial for his latest crimes, for which he was found guilty in February 2025.
Fairgray is set to face sentencing for his latest offenses on March 31.
