Teacher Gemma Devonish, 42, was tragically killed in a brutal attack at her home in Carshalton, Surrey, suffering 54 stab wounds, as revealed at an Old Bailey hearing.
Emergency services were called to her home on the morning of December 19, where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
James Madden, her boyfriend of ten years, has been charged with her murder, and police are not seeking other suspects.
Tributes poured in for Miss Devonish, a teacher at Rosebery Secondary School in Epsom, described by colleagues and students as “the kindest and most gentle of people” who inspired and cared deeply for her students.
The tragedy has shocked the community, with heartfelt messages shared by the school and local officials.
Rosebery School said it was devastated over her death, highlighting her immense contribution to students’ lives.
Local MP Helen Maguire and friends also paid tribute, describing Miss Devonish as a kind and radiant individual.
Authorities continue their investigation into the events leading to her death, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. Madden remains in custody with further hearings scheduled for 2025.
