A transgender woman, 21-year-old ‘Ciara’ Watkin, has been jailed for 21 months after deceiving an 18-year-old man into sexual activity by concealing his biological sex.
Watkin, who identifies as female but has not undergone “gender-affirming treatment”, met the victim on Snapchat and performed sex acts after demanding not to be touched below the waist.
The deception came to light when Watkin later revealed the truth via text, leaving the victim distressed and humiliated.
The judge said Watkin’s actions shattered the victim’s trust and stemmed from frustration over wanting sexual experiences with heterosexual men.
The Durham County Court also ruled Watkin will remain on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years and is subject to a lifelong restraining order.
