12 year old Bradley Bellino was found dead, strangled by a belt in Boardman Township, Ohio in 1972.
For 50 years police did not have enough evidence to charge anyone with the murder.
But the case was reopened in 2001 and yesterday police were finally able to name Joseph Norman Hill as the person they believe was responsible for the death. Hill lived in Boardman at the time of the murder but died in California in 2019.
Testing had found there was a 98.2 chance DNA found on Bellino came from Hill.
Boardman Township Police chief Todd Werth told media, ‘We believe there is sufficient evidence that if he were still alive, we would present his case to a grand jury.’
