The rugby league community is mourning the passing of former Junior Warriors player Roman Tuhimata, who lost his battle with a rare and aggressive cancer at the age of 29.

Tuhimata, a product of the Papakura Sea Eagles, played for the Warriors’ under-20 side in 2015 before continuing his career in Auckland club rugby.

His close friend and former teammate Jazz Tevaga led heartfelt tributes, urging people to cherish life and loved ones. Tevaga, who shaved his head and pledged donations based on his NRL performance to support Tuhimata’s fight, described him as a warrior until the end.

The Warriors and Papakura Sea Eagles also expressed their condolences, and a memorial service will be held at Go Media Stadium on Sunday to honour his memory.
