Rural pub burns Ardern book during public event

Black Dog Tavern in Mākōtuku hosted a public event on Sunday in which a copy of A Different Kind of Power by former PM Jacinda Ardern was burned on a brazier while a pipe band played the national anthem.

Images and video of the event were posted online, with the video receiving more than 15,000 views and a photo of the book on the fire drawing more than 1,000 comments by Monday morning.



The event took place at the tavern, located about 20 minutes from Dannevirke, and has attracted widespread attention on social media.
