Black Dog Tavern in Mākōtuku hosted a public event on Sunday in which a copy of A Different Kind of Power by former PM Jacinda Ardern was burned on a brazier while a pipe band played the national anthem.
Images and video of the event were posted online, with the video receiving more than 15,000 views and a photo of the book on the fire drawing more than 1,000 comments by Monday morning.
