Scottish Greens party candidate Heather Herbert caused a controversy by tweeting the update with a photo.
Herbert, born a male, is currently recovering from gender reassignment surgery.
On Monday Herbert was at Heathrow when she needed to locate a clean, dry place to lie down and ‘dilate’ her wound. She decided on using the nearest disabled toilet.
It was ‘not the most fun I’ve had’, she said.
Dilation is the post-surgery self-administration of a medical implement into the newly created vaginal canal. The Mayo Clinic says the process is designed to maintain its ‘size and shape.’
Twitter (X) users flooded her tweet with their reaction.
‘Can we take a moment to realize what is happening here? This is a man, who believes he is a woman, who got his penis turned into a crotch wound, and who is laying on the floor of a disabled toilet to shove an object into the wound to keep it from shutting. The world is not ok.’
