Govt eases food verification rules

The Government has announced changes aimed at reducing compliance costs and improving consistency for food businesses operating across multiple sites, with Food Safety Minister Andrew Hoggard saying new national verification guidance will end the patchwork of rules previously applied by councils and verifiers.

Under the changes, all sites in a multi-site registration will still undergo an initial verification, but future checks will only require a sample of sites to be inspected each round, depending on the level of food safety risk. Businesses operating under National Programmes will need at least a third of their sites verified each round, while Food Control Plan businesses must have at least half checked each round.

Hoggard says the reforms will provide greater certainty and lower costs for operators while maintaining food safety standards. Hoggard said the move forms part of a wider push to cut red tape across the food sector, following recent changes including free food safety training for small businesses, reduced testing requirements for small meat processors, and lighter rules for home-based cake makers and food exporters.

  1. They have killed the cheese maker own the road with insane stipulations for EACH variety of cheese he made since decades, and now they want to walk away from the damage like Trump?
NZ needs class action law suits against all bullsh*ticians who try to strangle society.
In lieu of taring and feathering…wonder what they would chose?

  2. Well, after all, they have to cut the red tape and their current nanny-state monitoring in order to make way for Bill Gate’s lab meat!
Plus, GMO items on the menu that will offer no REAL values of nutrition, so that the imposed crap diet of the Goyim & Gentiles will enhance the Bio-Weapon vaccines!

Compare Bosco chocolate sauce (kosher…) to the ingredients in Hershey’s..(non-kosher…)!

  3. Years of tax-payer-funded bureacratic eye-darting weasels sitting and swanning in their sheltered 11 to 2.30 offices pushing buttons and shuffling rules and greasy officious “planning” getting bonuses for who can dream up the best red-tape entanglement horsesh*t to well and truly f*ck-over anyone with the temerity to try and run and make a living from any type of small business. But hey! It’s election year, lets pretend to ease-up on our snake big-corporate monopoly agendas and claim we’re on your side now…

  4. The sheeple don’t need decent food, weevils, worms and cock roaches, ground up and served, will do just fine. If they get sick we will make medical care hard to obtain and replace them with cheap plentiful and most importantly, desperate and pliant, imported labour.
