Trans teen with cerebral palsy defends breast-removal surgery amid online backlash (Video)

Micah LeRoy, a 19-year-old University of Minnesota student with cerebral palsy, has defended her decision to undergo a double mastectomy after her social media posts documenting the procedure and recovery went viral.

Sharing her journey on Instagram, Micah’s videos sparked widespread debate, particularly among conservative commentators who questioned whether her disability should have precluded her from undergoing gender-affirming surgery.

Micah, who has a long history of grappling with gender identity issues, told DailyMail.com she is happy with her decision and welcomed the public reaction, saying she “wanted to blow up the internet.”

Despite her cerebral palsy, which affects movement and muscle control, Micah is a high-achieving college student and active in state politics.

Her case highlights ongoing debates about access to gender-affirming care for disabled individuals and minors, with critics questioning the ethics of such medical interventions in vulnerable populations.
