USA Boy Scouts rebrand to ’embrace inclusivity’

Boy Scouts news

On its 115th anniversary, the Boy Scouts of America officially rebranded to ‘Scouting America’, reflecting, it claimed, a commitment to “inclusivity and evolving youth needs”.

The change follows policy updates allowing girls to join in 2018 and lifting bans on gay youth and leaders in the previous decade.

The organisation has seen a slight increase in membership, with over 15,000 new scouts joining, bringing total membership to more than 1 million.

Despite the name change, Scouting America maintains its mission “to prepare young people for ethical and moral decision-making by instilling the values of the Scout Oath and Law.”
