Takumi Minamino’s first-half finish proved decisive as Monaco handed Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) a surprise defeat, scoring the only goal in a tightly contested match.
The Japan international curled a low effort into the corner from outside the area after being picked out by Aleksandr Golovin. Monaco were forced to defend with 10 men late on after Thilo Kehrer was dismissed for a professional foul following a VAR review, but they held firm as PSG pressed in stoppage time, with Vitinha denied by the goalkeeper and João Neves heading wide.
The match also saw Paul Pogba make a brief home appearance for Monaco, just his second outing in over two years following a doping ban. The victory lifts Monaco into sixth place, while PSG’s grip on top spot could be loosened with Marseille still to play.
