A Magnitude 4.6 earthquake with moderate shaking has occurred in Wellington this evening.
It was felt widely throughout the region and GeoNet have received over 19,200 felt reports.
A GeoNet report issued after the quake said it took place at 10.41pm and was centred 10km south west of Paraparaumu at a depth of 40km.
