A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck near Taumarunui in the early hours of Saturday, sending strong shaking across much of the North Island and into the upper South Island.
According to GeoNet, the quake occurred at 4.51am about five kilometres southwest of Taumarunui at a depth of nine kilometres, with severe ground shaking recorded near the epicentre.
By 6am, almost 23,000 people had reported feeling the tremor, while at least seven smaller aftershocks, ranging from magnitude 2.7 to 3.7, were also detected. Fire and Emergency New Zealand said its only reported incident linked to the earthquake involved a sprinkler system activation.

What about the floors of the structures; are they ‘warm to the touch’?

Is there an ROV despatched to Lake Taupo to look at the floor of the lake?

Is this s prelude to another super-volcano eruption w/ the pyroclastic flow extending out for perhaps hundreds of kilometers?
