ACT Party chief of staff Andrew Ketels has announced his resignation after 12 years working in Parliament, saying he now wants more time with his two young sons.
In a LinkedIn post, Ketels reflected on his career, including working for five ministers and helping guide ACT from a struggling minor party to an 11-MP caucus at the Cabinet table. He plans to finish up this month before moving on to a new challenge.
Before joining David Seymour’s office in 2017, Ketels worked for National MPs Louise Upston and Maggie Barry. His departure follows the resignation of Green Party chief of staff Eliza Prestidge-Oldfield earlier this year, who has since been replaced by former MP Kevin Hague.
“I feel very fortunate to have worked at Parliament for 12 years, for five Ministers, and as a Chief of Staff for the past five. There really is no place like it, but I’m looking forward to making a bit more time for my two boys,” said Ketels on LinkedIn.
