Alexandra police appeal for information following late night assault

Victim shaken but recovered

Alexandra police are appealing for information from the public after a late night assault on the outskirts of the town in the early hours of this morning.

The victim was the driver of a courtesy van operated by the Stadium Tavern. Just after midnight he left the bar carpark with five passengers on board. After dropping off two of them, a male and female, the remaining three male passengers became aggressive. He was dragged out of the van and assaulted on Orchard Drive, before the group drove off with the van. The vehicle was later recovered on Dunstan Road.

The driver was treated for minor injuries at Dunstan Hospital and later released.

Police are seeking information from the public to identify the male and female who were dropped off in Alexandra prior to this incident to assist with our enquiries. Anyone who has any information which may assist is asked to call Police on 105 and quote file number 211016/5563.
